Question. Manual for /97 Sears mower belts for mower in manual listed as 95.25 for one and the other as 42"
Would that measurement be taken from the inside of the belts or the outside? Thanks, Murray

We always measure around the outside or 'back' of the belt.

keep in mind: The width of the belt and the profile of the 'V' greatly influences the operation of some of the belts. Particularly the drive belts. In some cases, not just any belt the correct length will work.
