JD 265 lawn tractor

John Deere 265, no start. had a weak & intermittent spark at times, found ignition switch to be corroded. replaced that, then coil & igniter.
Am not getting spark... Anyone experienced with this JD series, 240, 260, 265.. Thanks for replies....

Engine has a self-powered ignition system, will make spark with just "coil" and "ignitor" connected.

Try disconnecting the wire from the ignitor to the tractor harness and see if you get spark. (Area marked by "X".)

This obviously removes the ignition "kill" switch, the "chassis" wiring harness and all safety systems from the circuit for test purposes.

Ya done good Bob. Neighbor had a Kawasaki engine on a Deere that would eat
those ignitors about every other year. I have two engines and both are
completely original.
