Cub Cadet engine filters

I bought an old Simplicity zero turn mower that was repowered with a Cub Cadet engine. It's a Kohler 2 cylinder and I think it's a Command engine. The numbers on the tag are not readable for identification. It looks like Model CH 199, spec 62509, serial 2330109. The tag is there, but it was dirty and when I tried to wipe it off to read it the numbers came off too. You can barely see the imprint of the numbers, not sure they are right. It has a fairly wide, short oil filter and a round air filter. Is there some way to find out which filters I need for it? Thanks, Chris

Well, there are only 2 Kohler oil filters. (Except for maybe their Aegis or Diesel engines.) One long and one short. They both fit the same mount too.

And for the air filter, you have a Kohler Command Horizontal 19 hp (CH 19) and beyond that you usually only need to know if the crankshaft was vertical or horizontal to get the right round air filter. Unless its mounted in a canister. (I bet your last 9 was really an 'S'. On the other hand, maybe not. Some engines that were really 20 hp were 'offically' rated 19.9 hp. to avoid additional emissions regulations.

Take your old air filter with you when you shop. You can also take your old oil filter, but it'll pretty messy.

The Aegis uses the same filters the other gas engines use.

52-050-02 (S2) = Long filter. Best to use if you have enough clearence for it.

52-050-01(S1) = Short filter.
