2182 Cub Cadet

Last summer I purchased a 2182 (Cyclops?) Cub Cadet tractor. I fired it up this spring and used it to pull a yard drag. I have never had a Cub Cadet beforehand. I had a 318 Deere, which I traded for my 425 AWS about 7 years ago. Really like the 425 and it is what I use for most of my mowing. I had always wanted a Cub Cadet and got into this one quite reasonable. I will be changing out all the fluids and filters, changing spark plugs, etc. Last fall I noticed something which concerned me a bit. I tried out the mower deck and it needs belts and blades in the worst way. My concern stems from an observation I had while using it and turning. When I turned one direction, it was quite obvious the tractor would slow down. While turning the other way, it seemed like it may have speeded up................all with respect to ground speed, rather than engine speed. Any thoughts out there? I cannot believe this is normal, but I thought I would ask. Again, I would appreciate some thoughts on the matter. Thank you.

The 2182 has power steering and I believe the Haban 5ft deck. My 1872 would do the same thing ... seemed like it would slow down the tractor when turning. The hydro axle speed is somewhat affected by the fluid being diverted to the PS cylinder, similar to when you're driving uphill -- the engine speed is constant but the forward motion slows because of the greater load on the hydro.

If you remove the steering linkage from the Power Steering Cylinder, does the wheels, spindles, and remainder linkages, move freely in both directions...???
