Small ZTR Mower

I'm beginning a search for a very used, fence row, cheap...

Small ZTR mower. Something in the 30" range. It will get very light use. I've been using a self propelled push mower, but my feet and knees are saying enough!

Any to specifically avoid? I can make just about anything run, cobble, weld, make do. My concern is hard to find hydrostat parts.

If anyone in the Texas area has one to sell, trade, swap, offer...

Thanks!

Look for a Blue in color mower made by Dixon co. Inc. They had some smaller ZTR mowers and have been around for years. They were good mowers also.

Thanks MtMan.

My mom used to have a Dixon that I used to keep her 2 1/2 acres of trees mowed.

It was bullet proof!

But from what I'm seeing, they have changed owners several times, ended up as a Huskvarna product, then were discontinued.

I have found a pair near here for $200. Really rough, been outside for a while. I don't see $200 there.

Found a couple more, supposedly running for $700-800. A little more than I wanted to invest, but may look closer. One is hydrostatic, the other is mechanical cone drive that I have not had experience with.

Just concerned about specialty parts availability on the Dixons.

I've had good luck with a Husquvarna cz3815. It's an 06 model probably bought from a Home Depot or Lowes. It's not fast like the Kawasaki's, but the 38" gets into gulleys nicely. This particular Briggs engine isn't noted for performance like the Honda's, but it always starts, and gets the job done. Frankly, I've been impressed with it.

all of the dixons are same parts as husqvarnas. the cone drive unit stay away from parts now are getting hard for those and trust me the hydro much better. i ran dealership for 11 years still selling parts at this typing. all mowers built run the same trannies engine etc so name on mower is really not much. the only item that was discontinued was blue paint. it is or was same unit they painted red, it bombed, them went to another sticker name it bombed now Husqvarna is discontinue all of there consumer product line. push mowers tractors etc. I still have quite few parts for Husqvarna/Dixon ,simplicity and ferris line. its all for sale, lifts, storage bins etc
