Have a deere 216 lawn tractor that will pull down the motor after a short time. Bearings look good pulley spins free by hand. Anything else cause this. Motor runs fine when pto clutch is not engaged.

You left out some details.

WHAT attachment are you operating off of the PTO?

To rule out the bearing(s) in the mechanical PTO clutch that take a thrust load from the side when the PTO clutch is applied, slip the belt off that drives the attachment and note if the loading problem goes away.

Do what Bob said first. If you have a deck or thrower mounted, they can get seized bearings.
The mule drive, that hangy-down thing with two pulleys can also have seized bearings.
If it bogs down with the belt removed, you likely have a bad bearing in the PTO itself.
You'll need the service manual or someone who has done it before to get that apart and
the bearing replaced correctly.

It is a mower deck and I do have a service manual and parts book. I have other 200 series tractors with decks and this is only one to give trouble. I will check and see if bearing is getting hot on deck.
