Threaded top spark plugs

Can you still buy spark plugs with a threaded top? I have an old Power-Craft generator that has a 3 hp Briggs engine, and the plug wire had an eye on the end. It fouled the old plug yesterday and I couldn't find any threaded plugs in my drawer, so I put a regular plug in it and tied the wire to the top with a piece of plastic twine. It started and ran well until it ran out of gas, I thought it might melt the twine but it didn't! What is the best plug to run in an old Brigs engine? J8?

The top unscrews on most plugs. I should have said, the connector unscrews on most plugs.

Most small engines today use the larger tipped plugs.

I have not saw a new Champion plug in years with a threaded tip. But I must also admit that I also have not used Champion plugs in years either. All of my equipment have NGK plugs.

You could change the connector on the plug wire to a newer type. Then you could use both threaded and non threaded plugs.

Champion still had a threaded top on their J8C (Or is it CJ8?) The longer of the two. I have also seen NGK plugs with threaded tops that fit those engines as well.
