Purchased at a garage sale last summer, no ID tag anywhere. Other than it being a K series Kohler and having 1" output shaft. Any ideas on original application? Probably have to remove head and measure bore and stroke. [/img][/img]

Seems like every time I try to load photos on this site something goes wrong. Won't allow me to delete post either. Sorry.

Single cylinder air cooled Kohlers were available in 7 and 8 hp, and have 7 head bolts. 10, 12, & 14 hp
engines have 9 head bolts. The 10 hp has a flat bottom oil pan, 12 & 14 have a deep sump. 16 hp engines
have 10 head bolts and a sump also.

All single cylinder Kohler engines used in IH Cub Cadets had 1 inch output shafts. Not sure what other
companies used but suspect most used 1 inch also.

Keep trying to post a picture. Best way to say what you have. Even if you could tell us what color it's
painted would help.

The model designation and spec number were originally printed on a decal on the blower housing.
K series engines also have the model number of the block cast into the block above the PTO.
However - a K301 casting might be a K301 engine or might have been bored as a K241.
The one inch PTO means it was most likely built for a John Deere garden tractor.
IH and Wheel Horse used a bigger shaft.

STEVE - Cub Cadets used 1 inch crankshaft on ALL their Kohler engines. I've been around them since 1963.

I have several K series, 1-1/8" seems most popular for any other application besides IH Cub cadet.
