I am considering ways to chop the fast growing grass here in NE Iowa. I have been struggling with long-cut dry grass that blows around and gets into my engine and face. I do sweep some up for garden mulch, but that takes a lot more time and gas.
I have tried, successfully, to double mow, pulling a tow mower behind, cutting the tractor-cut grass a little shorter. This is not a "show lawn"! For my hobby, I am trimming a 5-acre old farm yard with 100 old and new planted trees and bushes. Do the mulch blades require slower speeds? Do you have to block the out put? This grass often is six inches deep before the weather and my time makes it mowable.
I appreciate your time responding to this question, thank you. IaLeo
