briggs intek compression

Most Intek engines have a compression release mechamism on their camshaft, so I don't think there is any published number for compression on that engine.

That said, I've measured in the ballpark of 60 psi. on more than one new engine.

If you are wondering about the valves, a leakdown test may be in order. If you don't have a leakdown tester, you can feed a regulated an air supply into the sparkplug hole with an adpater at 10 to 15 psi and listen at the muffler, intake, dipstick to find where its leaking at.

I am only able to get 30 lbs and engine is an electric start and hard to get started.

there is no hope at all that its gonna run on 30 lbs. need at least 80-90-lbs. better check compression release if it has one if not check the valve adjustment also, could have a tight valve. plus you didn't give any info on age of engine. can also be a burnt valve and it will definitely not run if its a one cyl,??? no info on that either.

It is a 1998 model and is on a dr trimmer. It runs fine once you get it started but seems short on power. One cylinder 6 hp.
