simplicity vs john deere

a short time ago I had a fella tell me a simplicity garden tractor will do a better job of mowing than a JD. size of machines was not mentioned nor was zero turn units.

what gives ?

Most Simplicity decks don't hang from the tractor but instead are pulled my the tractor and ride on the ground. The JD, (and most others) hanging from the deck will 'dip' and scalp when a wheel hits a low spot. The Simp will follow the ground under the deck. Small difference, but if one wants a carpet cut, the ground following deck will provide it.

case and Ingersoll are also ground supported, and that's why I have some.

Probably because some or maybe?? all their decks have the roller across the back that makes the lawn look as smooth as a table top.

Simplicity have always been known for leaving a nice finished cut, the decks follow the ground well and they are deep with good airflow.... a good design that works well.

Simplicity also builds Allis Chalmers, Deutz Allis and AGCO Allis.

Just want to add:

That roller in the back of the Simplicity deck is also a dandy thing to grade your driveway with. Just drive one across a patch of loose gravel and you'll know what I mean.

My Husqvarna does a very nice job too. The deck is taller and also has air flow
baffles underneath. Machine is built by AYP products. They offer a fabricated
deck that is even heavier and works even better. You want a machine, look at
the latest simplicity model. Start price is only $4000.oo.

I agree JD does not mow very well. I have a 430,455,F932 & a 332 all JD. I have had a 12,14 ,16,18,20, and a 25hp Simplicity. The jd were cheap but the orange ones were better mowers

you have NEVER been around one to make a stupid comment like that. I have a 1965, 1968, 1980, and 2014 zero turn Cub Cadets. I had 3 coworkers all buy new Simplicity lawn tractors years ago. None lasted over 4 years. I ran my '68 more hours in one year than ALL 3 Simplicities ran combined in four years.

It depends on the Cub cadet and the Simplicity. Cub Cadet made some real cheap tractors, I own one. They also made some real good ones. Simplicity made the same, good and cheap. The older Cub Cadets and older Simplicitys were a different animal than what we get today unless you pend thousands and thousands.
