case 222

So my case 222 started acting up when I start it. It starts up spits and sputters then back fires and shuts off then just keeps backfiring when turning over the engine. The carb is only 2 years old it got it off amazon for 25 bucks maybe that's the issue I'm not sure any info would help.

I'm not familiar enough with Case tractors to know what engine you have. Is it backfiring through the carburetor or the exhaust? It sounds like a valve problem to me. Either out of adjustment or sticking or plain not sealing.

Probably not a carb issue. maybe intake valve not closing well, carbon buildup ?

Stock engine would be a Kohler 12hp, K301.

Then the first thing would be for you to clean the points. If my Kohler sits for a long time they get a little green fuzzy on them.
