I forgot to take pictures and forgot whether the vent hose on a Briggs and Straton Model 252707-0622-02 goes on the top or bottom when mounted on the engine. Thie is a vertical shaft engine with the head being in the horizontal position. I've searched parts diagrams and the internet trying to find out with no results.

Should be on the top, there is a drain back hole in the block for oil and vapor goes up.

I would agree. On top sounds logical and all of my engines they are on top. Be carful to install that squishy rubber hose back where it belongs. If you forget the whole underside of you hood kinda gets a nice layer of an oil vapor coating!
