Kohler VTwin Double Shaft

On these double-shaft Kohler's -- is the front shaft removable (attached) or is it part of the crankshaft, anyone know?

The "PTO shafts" bolt to the flywheel, and look something like THIS:

That is called a stub shaft and cost well over a 100. Dollars. These engines are nice when using to repower a different tractor. Depending on which
direction your application calls for. I put a kohler 18 hp v twin in a cub cadet original and had to use the flywheel end of the crank so the engine would
turn correctly. Worked great after I figured out it was going to turn the wrong direction when using the other end of the crank.
