Jacobsen builts

Usually I'm on the Ford 9N2N8N forum but I also have my Jake built tractors. I pulled my Jacobsen built White lawn tractor out of storage. I pulled the spark plug and rolled the engine over by hand. I poured some MMO into the cylinder and rolled it over again. While that soaked, I pulled the battery cables and cleaned them, cleaned the spark plug and checked it. I installed a new battery. I poured some fresh gasoline into the tank and some starting fluid into the intake and the cylinder. I installed the plug and hit the key. I'll be danged! It fired over but did not run. I added some more starting fluid and hit the key again. Fired several times and died. OK. Once more. It did run rather ragged but ran for about 12 seconds and smoked like crazy. OK. I'll pull the carburetor and clean it when I get back home this week-end.
I'm on a mercy mission in Springfield, Ohio tomorrow and then going to the Air Force Museum in Dayton for a couple days.

Well, that would account for it smoking for sure!

I personally do not like to use starting fluid in small engines; makes them "hammer" like the devil.

I would check the plug again to make sure its not fouled from the oil.

A half a teaspoon of gas (I always use mixed 2 cycle gas) in the plug hole might convince it to start.

Great tractors....I have several of the Ford versions.

Can't argue with you about straight starting fluid. With all of the oil I put into the cylinder I felt
it was not as harsh. I also have Jakes, Jake built Fords and a Minneapolis Moline.
I don't see many on the internet for sale but when they are sellers want big bucks for non-runners and
without mower decks, rototillers, push blades or sickle bar mowers. I need to quit looking and play with
the ones that I have.

Yes I did!!! I was there 5+ hours on Wednesday and 6+ hours on Thursday. Still not enough time to see and read everything. Looking at Bockscar and reliving my ride in Doc was pleasant. Having riden in the nose (bombardier seat) I can only imagine what was going through the bombardier's mind when he released "Fat Man".

Sad news earlier today. The fellow that we visitied on Tuesday passed away yesterday. He was career military. My sister, who is 80, called me very upset but was glad that she flew up from Texas to visit.
