montgomery wards walk behind tractor

Just picked up an old monkey wards walk behind tractor. Need to know where model number is located and who made the engines for these beasts

Tractor most likely made by Simplicity.
Engine manufacturer changed over the years.
Clinton was one of the most common.

One of those deals where a picture would certainly help. As Steve said they sold them for a lot of years and as you can imagine they changed a lot. Also as Steve said Ours had a Clinton engine and was made by Simplicity. There was a tag on the gear case. I tried to sell it for 5 years, then tried to give it away for a year and then removed the engine and junked the rest.

You didn't even save the wheels and hubs? The bolt pattern on the hubs fit the most common garden tractor wheels to make a trailer.

Some where made by Midland , I think in Milwaukee wi

On 2 wheel tractors

(quoted from post at 21:26:30 12/26/18) I have a Montgomery Ward two-wheeler with a 5hp Briggs engine, It dates from the later 1950s, I think.

The later Wards walk-behinds (made by Simplicity) were quite sophisticated with an actual gear transmission with a shift lever.
My brother owned one back in the early 60s but I don't know the year of the tractor
It had an 8HP cast Iron Briggs engine.
