Float stick

Hi I have a 5.5 hp honda motor that was sucking gas up into the air filter then into the crankcase. I went to dealer and they said the needle and valve seat kit was no longer available. I bought a complete new carb. They put it on. It ran great. I used it for 1/2 hr then put it away. I went to winterize and put stabil in and let it run dry. It sucked gas up into the breather and crankcase again. This is 3 months later. Dealer said it was fuel. I haven't got into it yet but I wonder if fuel could be it that fast!!! Ed Will Oliver BC

My 2 cents wourth. I have two Honda 8hp engines and niether one has ever given a lick of trouble. Think you would be doing a good thing as what I do. Every time you are finished with the machine at the end of the day flip the black fuel shut off leaver to the left and let the carb run dry. I also exclusively use Hi-test gas in all of my small engines. There are no adjustments in your carb for the float but there is a fuel air mix if you know how to find it. This video is the absolute best on these carbs. It is very thorough and easy to follow. Go through your carb if you want. If the crankcase breather hose is not plugged and the filter is nice and new then I am wondering if there is a little read valve that is stuck where the crankcase can pull a vacuum on your carb. I have the PDF file in my phone but can't find a mention of that read valve. It would be in the valve cover if your engine has one. Most engines do have one. Take the valve cover off and check if you like. These Honda carbs are as simple as a rock so check through my suggestions and see if something shows up. Hope this helped. P.S. the Harbor Freight Predator engines are almost carbon copies of Hondas. That is why you can go on Ebay and find all kinds of parts for very cheep. They fit and work just fine.
