I have a buddy that has a Gibson, we believe it is a model D??? Has the 8 horse AEH Wisconsin engine I think.

1. Where if any is the SN plate?? We found a number stamped on the frame rail and were wondering if this is a part number or the SN?

2. I ordered him a book from Jensales for it. Was confident it would work since the model A, D and Super D were all in the same book. He is hoping the lenght and size of the four belts that run the clutch to the transmission are in the book but i doubt it. Anyone have a source for these belts, or know the size and lenght?

3. General source for parts? I dont know anything about these and he is new to this model so not sure about avaibility or if you can even get any with a parts tractor.

Thanks for any info.

I have a Model D and I have a pretty good set of books about these tractors and all it says about the clutch belts is too make sure you replace them with a matched set. No dimensions are given. I know there is quite a bit of adjustments for the belts so if you measure and get them close you can adjust them to work. I replaced mine and no problems. They are fun to drive. If you know the serial number of the Wisconsin engine I probably can tell you the date of the engine. Of course it may have been changed so it will not be the correct year for the tractor. My tractor is a 1948 and the tractor serial number is on a plate on the frame along side of the engine. Mine says Western Am. Ind and that's one of the company names who bought our Gibson at one time. I hope all this helps

I had a chance today to go my barn where my Gibson is and I could get the numbers off the clutch. The number is for Napa Belts. The number is 4L33ow. My book calls for a matched set. I don't believe they sell matched sets anymore. They tell me that belts re made better and they all measure the same. Mine have been on for at least 3 years and don't look at all worn a bit.

Havent got the SN off the engine yet from him but he did give me a number that he said was stamped on the frame rail up around the engine. D 5450. Would this be the SN for the tractor or just a part number. He says there is no tag on the tractor anywhere just this number. Will get the number off the engine sometime here in next week or so.

For the serial number for my tractor. There is a small brass tag on the frame close to the engine that has a number and Western American Ind. They were owners of the Gibson company at one time. You can only date these tractors by the engine number and if the engine has been changed you are out of luck. I'll try to keep an eye out for the engine numbers when you get it. It should have a Wisconsin engine on it. The engine model should be a AEH

Message for SCATA PULLER. The closest that I can see by the Wisconsin Engine chart is your engine was assembled in 1946. Hope this helps and have fun with the Gibson.
