I have a eldery friend has a LX278 mower which he needs a new seat for ,what ie the JD OEM seat number for it .He wants a seat that has the john deere inmprint on it thanks

OEM John Deere seat for the LX279 shows two different part numbers, depending on the serial number: after SN 60,001, it's AM131157. Under SN 60,000 it's AM131531.

Do a Google search on the appropriate part number, and you'll find a variety of sellers with OEM John Deere parts (some are actual dealers), with price differences, free shipping, etc.

I ordered a generic yellow seat for my LX279, and when it was back-ordered, the seller substituted an OEM John Deere seat for the same price.

I poked a branch through the new seat the first time I mowed with it...

(Now I have some nice yellow duct tape.)
