Hi, jeffcat suggested I order a carb from ebay for my craftsman 26hp briggs. I ordered it Sunday about 1:30pm. I got a call Monday about 6:00pm from my receiver in Oroville that it was there. I am amazed! Hope it fits. Thanks jeffcat. Ed Will Oliver BC

Best of luck. Hope it works out for you. I recently bought a $14 carb from ebay for a Kohler K241 aqs, and while it outwardly appears to be the same, and does run the engine better than what I had, the choke lever is so different that I had to get really creative to connect the factory cable, and now don't have enough room for the air cleaner assembly. Next step is to rebuild the original carb and put it back on.

Hi timscasbolt, I sure hope mine works too. I was
thinking maybe you could adapt parts from your
old one onto the new one to make it fit. Just my 2
cents. Ed Will Oliver BC

I looked it over some more this afternoon and am thinking I might try taking the float and the needle and seat assembly from the new carb and put them on the old carb. That appeared to be where the problem was due to the seeping of fuel around the top of the bowl. This will only work if the bowl o-ring is the same.

I've bought 2 Chinese carbs off E-bay. First one I put on and it worked better than the original one. Second one, the tractor does run, but it gallops, grandson says he can adjust it for me.

I too ordered a china carb for my K301 and the choke lever/plate was on the shaft 180 degrees out of proper position.
So I swapped out the new choke plate rod with lever for the old carb parts.
On a second carb I did not have any old parts so I removed lever/plate from shaft, clocked it 180 degrees and flame welded back on to shaft.
Had to use silicon-bronze welding rod.

To Ed Will,
I would only use non-ethanol gas as the china carbs do not seem able to resist internal corrosion the same as O.E.M. carbs.

Hope everything works on yours. The two I have put on my twins were just fantastic. Terrific throttle response, perfect idle, and run like a magic wand was touched to them. I only use hi-test gas on my machines.

I took the needle, seat, float, bowl, gasket, and o-ring from the new carb and put them on the old carb this morning. Slight readjustment to the float, and the engine seems to run very nice. It's sitting out there with the gas valve on now, waiting to see if it seeps like before. So far, so good.
