PTO Switch on a Simplicity Landlord

I have a bad PTO switch on my Simplicity Landlord Mower. I can remove the wiring plug from the back of the switch and jump two terminals to engage the deck. I ordered a switch that says it has a ten amp upgrade.
I also adjusted my electric clutch air gap to .012.
The seat safety switch is working good.

Does anyone have a wiring schematic that would tell me what the other wires are for that go to the switch?
 
If it's like mine it let's you start the tractor. 1 side is power to the clutch and the other side is the starter interlock so you can't start it with the deck engaged.
 
OK Thanks. That makes sense. I?m going to check the resistance on the clutch coil. I guess if it?s not in spec it could burn up another switch.
Does anyone know what the resistance should be?
 
Since your original switch is shot, open it up. Mine had got moisture in it and corroded the contacts inside. I believe you will find your problem in the switch. The clutches are very durable but do need periodic adjustment to the air gap. If the gap gets too wide the electro magnet cant pull it in.
 
If you can accurately measure the Amps drawn by the clutch coil, that would be a good way to verify it's OK.

Probably should be around 4 Amps, and not over five.
 
Thanks Bob. I was going to ohm it out but I could put my inductive amp clamp over the power wirie at the clutch and see what kind of reading I get.
 
Bob has it right. Four to five amps. Contacts in the switches were a little too lite so the retro part. Most machine you can go to the manufacturer web site and down load a PDF file. Find the information tag under the seat, hood, along the frame, where ever. You will need all of those numbers to get the correct file.
