I have a RK with Brigg 20. Ignition problem. I found a 'fried' area, involving wiring in ignition circuit. a diode in-line. I cannot find a schematic that shows any diodes at all. Can Anyone enlighten me as to are they necessary or where to get a service manual. RKGT20H46A Thanks.

if its 2 cylinder, there are also diodes in the kill wire under the engine cover.

That wire is the source of AC, generated by the charge coil, which is rectified by the diode to create DC to charge the battery.

That diode is most likely part of the alternator system that the engine has for charging the battery. The alternators on engine like that are very simple and the ones I have messed with had a single diode to make it so as not to send AC current into the battery
