Ignition coil

NOT without using an external resistor.

The dwell period is different on Kohler one-cylinders than the typical automotive engines and some of us believe a genuine Kohler coil gives better point life than subbing an automotive unit.

Others say that's total hogwash.

In either case, the coil you have WILL work, at least for a while, if you use an appropriate ballast resistor with it.

Ih10020:

The original and correct Cub Cadet/Kohler Ignition Coil has an internal resistor to their coils, thus NOTHING else was needed to fire the Kohler K241 Engine.
