Why does all the information I read say that a MF 12 has a Tecumseh engine while the 3 I have all have Kohlers?

Probably depends on mfg yr of tractor as 3 different mfg made mf tractors-dura,badger northland & amf.

Hi, If it is a MF12 it would have had a Tecumseh.
Later ones used Kohler Magnum,then Kohler. The MF
7-8 Tecumseh had limited life and many were adap.
to other engs, but the MF 10-12 Tecumseh,no. Sold
many of these-owned a'71,12 with high hours and
Rpl eng with another Tecumsey in 2002. I have to
wonder if yours are later or very coincidental.

I know, I have the same issue with my smallest riding mower (Craftsman), which has an 8 hp Tecumseh, but most documentation says either Kohler or B&S engines only.

I worked for a dealer back in the day 12& 14 had
Kohlers.
