Hello:

Are these good cub cadet mowers? Can parts still be obtained from cub dealers? If something were to happen to the Onan b48g engine, can you get parts to rebuild them? Looking at a used one just want to make sure if i have trouble i can fix it and am not out on getting parts.

YES, parts can be had for both the Tractor and the Onan.

The 982 was a great tractor, BUT Onan no longer makes engines. Onan parts are hard to find and BIG BUCKS when you do.

They are good mowers but those Onans are getting pretty old and have probably seen a lot of use. If it hasn't been rebuilt its probably reaching a stage in its life that it needs to be.

You can find parts but the Onan engines are super expensive to rebuild (think along the price of rebuilding a Chevy small block). I like the older slightly "Quietline" mowers because they still used the cast iron single cylinder Kohler engines that are extremely cheap and easy to rebuild.
