have a 1282 cub has been siting for some time the fuel tank was empty and the coil was leaking oil put new gas in and a new coil now all it dose is spit and sputter when it runs it is rough. cheaked the points .020, new plug. also when it dies it will shoot vaper out the carb some times. do i have a timeing issue or stuck valve or eletrical issues? thanks

I think you have a sticking intake valve, you can check by taking off the head. You maybe able to free up the valve with some WD-40.

Confirm coil you have designed for a kohler eng(internal resistor) and that coil wired correctly,+ term on coil MUST be connected to 12v from ign sw & - term to points,if no resistor in coil or coil wired in rev,this can cause problem you have,problem could also be caused dirty/pitted points,weak/bad condenser,sticking valves,dirt in carb or weak/bad fuel pump.

NAPA has single head gaskets in their "Outdoor
Power Products" catalog. Kohler brand and NAPA
(Generic) brand. But you must order by engine
model..not Cob Cadet model.

You may want to pull fuel bowl off carb and make sure everything is clean in there, let a cup of gas run through with bowl off to flush any foreign matter out.
