Hey all, I am thinking about buying a Massey 36" snow thrower. I was just wondering if it would work well on a 7 or if it wouldn't be able to handle the job? I know they had snow throwers for cub originals so that would tell me that this could handle it. Also what are the speeds of each of the gears?

Thanks

A 36" blower is probably a little too much for a mf 7,same is probably for a 12hp+ tractor, also don't know if what you're looking at is single or 2 stage blower, orig mf 7/8 blowers were single stage around 27",yrs ago I had an mf8 with blower,it worked, but as with all single stage blowers it didn't handle wet/deep snow that well, you had to blow at max eng rpm & slow forward speed & then chute would sometimes pack with wet snow, mine was a hydro,so I can't tell you speeds if a manual trans.

I have an MF10 with the 36 inch single stage snowthrower. Works great. However if the snow is very deep or if it's mild temperature, the ten hp is already somewhat underpowered. I just have to drive slow then or not take a cut not the full width of the blower. That part is no problem. Most of the time the snow is light and I clear my driveway even if its a thin layer and those times I always travel as fast as the tractor can go, approx 6-7 mph. Not sure on the other gear speeds though. Mine has 4 gears with variable speed. That 1st gear is very slow.

Hey guys. My 7 is a gear drive, 3 fwd 1 rev. I ended up buying that snowblower, it was too good a deal to pass up. If it doesn't work for my 7 it would give me reason to get a bigger tractor hehehe. Or I could always sell it. Thanks. Also if anyone still has the top speeds for each gear that would be great.

I am restoring a MF7. One thing that no one mentioned is it looks like the transmission drive belt can be jumped to the smaller V on the engine pulley. That should slow the tractor some and perhaps allow the blower to work with the smaller engine.
If that is not what the smaller V pulley is for, let me know.

Hi, The MF 7 and MF 8 had a speed reduction kit.
A larger sheave for the trans, and I believe that
the kit also came with a longer belt. Chuck
