Fordson Standard N serial number?

Hi there,

I have a standard N that I wish to road register, and the serial number on the side of the engine block Left hand side as I m facing the tractor head on looks to be N5015A and I can t find anything that relates to this in any of the listings of series numbers anywhere?

Am I looking in the right place even? And if so what is this different serial number all about? Presumably I need this for road registering?

That number does not fit into any of the Ford numbers I have. It could possibly a
reconditioned engine. The engine number is usually the serial number as well on
Fordson tractors.

In my records (which could be wrong) 50... numbers are April 1919 to May 1919, the
next time numbers started with 50 was May/June 1925, they were 6 figure ones and did
not contain letters.

Others may know better.

Hi, did you read a cast number or a stamped number?

Cast no are not serials. Your engine no should be above the
exhaust port on the radiator side of the engine.

5015 is Ford's base part number for an
engine block. N is the vehicle model
designation. A is the engineering
change designation. Thus, you are reading
the block part number, not the engine
serial number. As noted below, the part
number is usually cast into the part. The
serial number will be stamped on a
machined flat somewhere on the block.

The photo shows where the serial number is stamped. The engine may or
may not be original to the tractor.
