I like stay close to the Fordson at shows. Because you never know who you may meet. Especially on Senior Day. If your interested you can read the comments I got from the young and the old.
Kids Comments
Look ,this the oldest one here its 1924 ! several of those kids look at the date of the exhibit they run ahead to find dates and shout back .
Do you drive it? Yes would you like to hear it ,Ill start it for you . They jump up and down with joy ! Got to educate the young ones willing to ask questions.
Why doesnt it have tires ? They didnt make rubber tire till 1932 ,I tell them.
Some teenager tried to crank it . When I was not looking . He couldnt move it . He said to his bubbles, it doesnt have compression release.
I had it in gear so the they couldnt .

Adults
Look this almost a hundred years old .
Look it has steel tires ???
Does it run ??
I never heard of Fordson ?
Is it the same Ford ?
What that round wheel on the side . Pto belt pulleys
Is it a rough ride with those steel wheels , (yes)
Why does it have two fuel tanks ( one for gas to start and and one for kerosene.
Would you like to here it run ? (Yes) can we film you ? (Yes)
You did an excellent job restoration. (Thanks )
My grandpa had one

All in all ,it went well
The wife did well with the story if I wasnt there.
Most people that look at tractors want to hear about them because they have many good reasons ,the show is about them also .

Dennis, sounds like my favorite part of every tractor show I've ever attended - a bunch of people willing to talk to anyone/everyone about their hobby/addiction!

That is the great thing about tractor shows, my two tractors that I take are
the E1ADKN and the petrol Dexta. The E1A Major Diesel is a pretty common
tractor, there were many thousands built, they passed 500,000 in 1955, but
the kerosene version was soon discontinued. The comment I get is ' My
father/grandfather had one of those' so I say, 'With rubber injector pipes'?
that makes them look twice and realise it is not what they thought it was.

The Dexta also causes comments when I plough, and she just quietly goes
along. I have heard comments like 'just another Dexta' then they realise
there is no diesel knock.

That's what I like about shows. Meeting and talking to people about tractors, especially when you have one that most people have never seen or only heard of them or seen pics. You do have a very nice looking tractor
