The original subject was Serial number location on Super Major.

Hey Guys. . Having a bit of trouble figuring out what year my
father's Fordson is. . . We were told it is a 1964 model however
the lift pump is different. . . I have looked at the spot on the
engine and there is no serial number stamped. . I do have a very
worn compliance plate and all the stamps from the engine gearbox
and diff. . . If someone could flick through these and let me know
what to do that would be terrific. .
The 64 model has the glass on top of the lift pump. . is it
possible to put a lift pump from an older model? The rocker arm
looks completely different. . Attached are links to pictures using
bublup image sharing. . Give it a go :)

Sorry, none of your links work for me, they say content deleted.

A 64 Super did not have a glass top on the lift pump it had a pump mounted on the side of the engine with pipes coming in the bottom and out the top.

If there is no serial number under number 1 injector, post a few casting codes which should be something like 4A24 or you may find they are more like A24B. They are on every cast part, the easiest one to see is on the gearbox housing, just above the clutch pedal linkage. These will give you the date of thetractor to within a few months, if original.

Thought you could be in Australia, welcome to the board. Aussi tractors are a bit of a pain sometimes as they used their own serial numbers on that aluminium plate that either got lost or degraded.

The casting numbers you show do not fall in the Ford list for tractors of the Super Major era. J31C would make it July 31st 1959.

Casting numbers from other castings would make it easier to narrow down, they are the short ones not the E1A or DDN ones.

Yeh mate I've got all the casting numbers I have just been having trouble with them. . The picture you sent is correct here. . Old boy says they were the mechanical injector pump. .
I will try put up the rest of the pictures I believe the serial number looks like it has been ground off however it could just be the Australian way. . Makes sense. . The numbers where stamped by hand on the plate and they are very wobbly . .

Gahhhh having a real issue
3L8
7007
B7 then an arrow => at a circle of numbers from 1 to 10 the arrow pointing between 3 and 4
On the engine there is a longer code 6D5DJ. Then under that it reads J3167
I think that's all I can tell you . .
There are a few pictures that made it up if you flick through my replies. .

Thank you

Sorry forgot to say all of those codes are from the rear end from clutch back to diff . . Thank you

No problems, we got there in the end. She was built in September/October 1963, add six months to travel from England to Australia and she would have been marked up as a 1964. She is what is known here as a New Performance Super Major with a 55 hp engine and improved hydraulics with a drop restrictor knob on the front of the lift.

You might like to join the Fordson Club of Australia, a great group of people from all over. I can recommend the gatherings, the food is magnificent and never dries up!!!! :0)
