Ferule, olive, fuel pipe washer

I have some confusion about fuel lines on my newer 64' Super Major. I need to replace a few fuel lines. I ordered some prefabbed ones from Agriline. Agriline says I need to use Fuel Pipe Washers. Do you take the olives/compression ring off the line or put the fuel line washers on over the olives, in front of the olives? I know this is pretty basic knowledge to be missing but when I googled fuel pipe washers the images seemed to show a different fittings that had a ridge built in ferrule/line nut and the washer was in front of the ridge. The fuel pipe washer that Agriline requires looks like a little piece of fuel or what I was taught as a crush washer minus the copper washers on both sealing surfaces. Any help would be helpful. If I could post a picture I would.

I would not use a washer on a fitting with an olive like is used on the Fordson Major and other
Fordsons. The olive seals on an angled seat and squeezes down onto the pipe.

The fuel pipe washers are, as you said, for the other style fitting which seals on a straight seat.

Majorman, Thanks for responding Just to let you know you responded to a post about installing a combo fuel pump and sediment bowl. Well it turns out the PO had installed the combo pump but the diaphragm casing on the pump hit a nut on the injector pump, which made the pump sit kittywampus and not mate flush with the block. No problem, half a tube of silicone and a washer worked until it didnt. . I went ahead and mocked up the fuel lines, sediment bowl and pump on the dinning room table before my beautiful and delightful wife woke up. It turns out that the Fuel Pipe Washers (washer) are manufactured with one side open and the other side closed, like a tiny cup. The washer has a small nub that I thought I could pull the closed side off. After about 1/2 hour of fussing, I decided that was a no go. Looking at the fuel line and the olive/ crush ring more closely. There is a small flange for a mating surface on the end of the line, which prevents the olive from coming off. In a moment of insanity or bravery a took the washer and pushed it on the fuel line the closed end popped open and went right on and seated on top of the olive. Pushing the line nut down expanded the washer. I'm gonna try it this way and see if it works. At the most, what do I have to lose except for a king's ransom in diesel. I got some pictures. I can't seem to figure out how to add a picture to a post, sorry. I will try to figure it out. Next issue, where to hang the sediment bowl and fab-up some fuel lines. Its always fun at the old homestead.

Here is a picture of the Super Major sediment bowl and lift pump, it may help.

Majorman, Thanks for your help. I did reach our to Agriline and here is their response Thank you for your email. If your pipe already has the brass olives then you do not need to use the fuel pipe washers. If your pipe just has a flared end then the washers need to be slid over the end of the pipe to act as a brass olive. Hope this makes sense. That makes sense and is consistent with your advice. I didn't want to be a knob and write back why does the website state that the rubber seals are required when the prefabbed fuel lines already have olives. ( https://agrilineproducts.com/ford-fordson-fuel-pipe-tank-to-leak-off-pipe-7522 ) Also thanks for the pictures. I tried to match the setup shown on your picture and about 20 other pictures I found on the interweb. However, my tractor's block or the position of the refurbished Simms pump didn't accommodate the factory set-up. Additionally, the new Agriline lift pump with the bottom to top flow did not fit onto my block. I might write a different post on that subject and try again to post some pictures. I had to get a different lift pump and remove 3/16 to 1/4 of material from the horizontal flange to to clear on nut on the back side of the Simms pump. She's running fine now and she's not on my neighbor's lawn. Again thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Thanks for the update, glad you sorted it. Regarding your sediment bowl problem, it sounds like your Super is pre 1962. The earlier versions still used the Power Major engine block and so you need the old style lift pump. After 1962 the block was changed with a different cut out for the lift pump and also the pump mounts were changed to accommodate the Minimec pump upgrade. On the early version there is no provision for the sediment bowl as that was part of the lift pump.
