Time for timing 63 super major

Looks pretty straight forward, any thing I need to be cautious of. I did notice #4 rod bolt will make contact with fuel pump boss when cam and crank are out of order.

No problem, just line up the marks on the gears. Yes, the rod will hit the camshaft but not usually a problem until the cam shaft drive gear fails. On earlier engines the gear was held on by three bolts and these would come loose and fail. Been there, cleaned up the mess. :0) No problem with a single bolt fixing one like yours.

The timing you have to be careful with is the injection pump, it is easy to get it 180 degrees out. Then she will not start. You need to get it on Number 1 cylinder, on the firing stroke. A quick easy check is to make sure the clamp bolt on the pump drive coupling that holds the coupling onto the drive shaft, is below the shaft not on the top.

Ahh Yes!! The notorious rattling coupling. Only an old Major mechanic knows about the clamp bolt. And a gap the thickness of a dime in the slot, and it's darn close to in time.
