1960 Fordson Dexta voltage regulator?

North BC

Well as I mentioned before I am a new owner and this sounds stupid but I can not find a voltage regulator on my tractor. there had been some "electrical" work done prior so wire color may not be relevant LOL . I do have a two post generator.

a little background, I had to split the tractor to change the clutch and I do not remember where the generator was hooked to. it is not behind the "dash" or in the battery area. whats left?
thank you in advance

Hi North BC,
the regulator should be in below the Proofmeter (tachometer) in the box that also contains the ignition, light and heater switch. This is held in place by 2 x 1/2 bolts that are located below the fuel tank.
There should be letters on the regulator to tell you where the wires go. I am still learning as it is a job I will be tackling in a few months but D is the dynamo wire that should also have a connection to
the charging light, F is the field wire to the dynamo, A is the charging wire to the battery, according to wiring diagrams it does so via the solenoid connection. and E is the ground wire.

Hopefully someone will chime in if I have those connections incorrect.

Your earlier post suggests the tractor might have been converted to
an alternator. If so, the regulator could have been removed as a
number of alternators have in-built regulators.

In answer to your earlier question, you might need a spacer behind
the pulley and, yes, an MF pulley should fit OK. (after spending 7
days in strong bleach to remove any MF contamination). :0)

Hi Damon, that is where I was expecting to find the regulator (the dash) but nothing there. I have had to charge the battery a couple of times or jump start the tractor so I'm thinking that maybe I do not have one and the generator was not hooked up to anything. I may just convert it to a one wire alternator

HI Majorman, nope not an alternator I am starting to think that there was not one installed and that may explain why I have had to charge the battery a couple of times and jump start it a couple of times. I do not have anything that runs on 12V except for the starter no lights or gauges.
I am thinking that I will install a one wire alternator so that I can add lights exct. on the tractor :)

The bushing question was someone else :)
