Fordson Dexta engine stop cable replacement

North BC

New User
As a new Owner of a 1960 Fordson Dexta I have been fixing things as they break, well today I started the tractor just fine and when it came time to shut it off , the stop engine cable broke away.
Problem is I can not see where it was hooked up to. I know it was somewhere between the engine block and the injector pump. I do not see any linkage of lever maybe it broke off???? I have seen on videos that the Dexta Super's lever is on the outside of the Injector Pump But not in this tractor. any help is appreciated thank you .

It really depends on whether you really have a Super Dexta. The
Super Dexta came out in April 1962 and was fitted with a Minimec
injection pump with the stop control at the front of the pump.

Prior to that, the Dexta had a Simms vacuum governed pump and the
stop control was at the rear of the pump between the pump and the
engine block.

Both Dexta and Super Dexta had Minimec pumps from mid-1962 to the
end of production in July/August 1963.

A picture would be nice if possible.

Good morning and thank you for the quick reply, I can tell you that it is a Dexta not a Major or Super, and the Pump is a Simms, any advice as to where the cable is supposed to go ?.

Thank you
Jacques

On a Dexta the cable goes to a lever between the pump and the
engine at the rear of the pump. It is hidden away, try looking down
from the top just before the governor housing.

This is the best picture I could find, the stop cable runs under
the fuel filter and disappears behind the pump.

Just want to say thank you it took me a couple of days to get back to work on the tractor BUT I found the lever and after much swearing, a few knuckles scraped I mange to get the new cable installed without removing to much. now on to clutch and brake pedal adjustments :) then the wheel fenders can go back on. once again thank you
