ADDING A DIFF LOCK TO A FSM

There is a note in the parts manual: these parts are required when adding Diff. Lock to FSM with disc brakes

Anyone done this yet??

Thx

I don't believe that I have ever seen a Super Major that didn't have disc brakes, and differential lock. That doesn't mean there weren't, just in the many, many that we handled, I never saw one.

Thank you
Perhaps a TLB like mine does not benefit from diff lock??
I still believe it is a industrial tractor because of the yellow paint under the blue.

The backhoe is so heavy that you can't force the loader down to back blade much if at all because of the weight distribution therefore limiting steering. Would a diff lock on a machine that is prone to poor steering add
to the negative effects of the weight imbalance?

I am with Skipper, I have never seen a Super Major without a dif. lock. It was one of the standard features. To add one would mean a different crown wheel and pinion, a different bull pinion shaft, a different brake end plate plus the parts of the dif. lock itself. So unless you had a donor tractor, the parts would not be available or cost effective.

As far as helping the steering, a dif. lock would make it far worse as locking the dif. makes the tractor drive in a straight line even with the steering on full lock. If you need steering aid you need independent brakes.
