Fordson F and 560 Dennis

please help my stupid self.I am working on my coil box,and I got several friends with model Ts they can show me but cant explain nothing.I
under stand the 4 wires going to the plugs,and I understand the 4 wires from the rotator.Im concerned about the bottom strip in the coil box
and what wire goes to it.Is this tractor negative ground Im going to run it off of a battery,where does the positive and negative wire from
the battery hook up to the tractor?I have studied ever photo on utube but I cant tell where the battery leads go

Your bottom coil terminals are for the constant voltage supplied by the flywheel magneto ( from that terminal on the L.H. bellhousing, facing towards the coilbox and just above the parting line between the block and oilpan castings). As long as the engine is turning, there is (ideally) enough juice being supplied here to make your coils buzz. The purpose of the Rotator/timer is to supply a ground to the coil which completes the electrical circuit and allows the coils to energize in the correct sequence (the firing order). It seems confusing at first, but those wires from the timer are not "hot", they are just isolated grounding wires.

If you are going to bypass the flywheel magneto with a battery, you can hook the bottom strip to one terminal of the battery and ground the other to the tractor so the timer will pick it up- it doesnt matter which terminal you use.

IF you are going to use BOTH the Flywheel magneto AND a "helper" battery to start the tractor, you MUST isolate both ignition systems! A SPDT switch must be used so that only one system is connected and active at a time to prevent electrical damage between the two.

Sorry, I didnt mean to step on your toes here by jumping in early- I hope you took no offense. Us Fordson "F" (and N through E27N) guys gotta stick together!

I used the 6 volt battery (charged up) out of the Farmall C with jumping cables . I removed the cable from flywheel contact , I put the jumper positive to that coil cable . And the other negative cable to the stud for coil box or good ground .
Here are some dont say
Dont have the 🧲 magneto cable hooked flywheel ever if using the battery ,it will discharge the magnets 🧲.on flywheel
Dont let the coils buzz for any length of time ,it will heat up tar in coil and boil out of coil ❗️Rotate crank so that coil stops buzzing
We (with battery start , retard spark ,its a must do . Rotating hand crank to the one oclock 🕐 position and use are leg pushing down to start .ours starts cold one kick .
If your using mag to start you need to whirl the hand crank to start to build up current. About two turns as fast as you can , keep your face away if it kicks back ,that why you retard spark ,dont put thumb around handle .. I see a lot guys on you tube do it and they are asking for a broken arm or a expensive dental repair.
Thats about it , all Fordson s are different so depending on the conditions of your tractor ,this is only a start I can recommend.

I talked to Skip at the Fordson house and I think he answered my question.When running on a battery the positive lead on the battery goes to the bottom strip in the coil box,and the negative battery post grounds to a bolt on the tractor
