I have a backhoe on rubber. ( ottawa loader )
supposed to be a 1954 fordson major.
both serial number spots are blank. ( I scrubbed and sprayed )
I need a water pump and purchased a 1106-6202 ( Atlantic number)
The improved coolant slot winds up on the out side of the engine just ever so slightly.
can anyone point me towards what to ask for... most retaliers are telling me that the new pump fits either.
Im about to weld the hole and machine. thoughts?

thanks for the encouragement. I may weld up the housing with a nickel rod and relocate that hole. have you heard of any reasons to not do that?

Yes I have scoured that area, I see the pad or flat area but there is nothing stamped there. Thank you for My IT manual says the split is at serial number 1425097.
I was told it was a 54' same person told me the numbers were ground off when it left O'hare airport back in the day.
I may add onto the block or weld/ Braze up the passage. it is just barely not on a sealing surface.
Maybe I can disassemble the new pump to save the old

There is no pad or flat area on the flange, it is just stamped into the casting behind the starter. Also they will not have ground all the casting codes off which will give you and accurate date.

Your serial number will be on the flange where the block joins the gearbox, behind the starter. The water pumps are not the same, you need one for a 1952 to 1957 model. It might be easier to put a new bearing and seal in your old one.
