Fordson power major not a bush hogg tractor

Ive got my grandpa's fordson power major tractor, i came across a 6ft Bush hogg and thought that will be perfect for the power major. The tractor is narrowed down so the Bush hogg cuts the tracks out for most part.
I was trying to bush hogg and clean up my place. It handles the bush hog power wise just fine.
I got to mad at the tractor PTO has to spin for the lift to work. Some places i needed it to lift without the blades spinning so I'd have to stop the tractor cut off the engine get off unhook the pto get back on the tractor start it up then lift the Bush hogg up then repeat the process to start cutting again then keep repeating the same so on and so.
Got so mad I quit and drove to the shed and parked it and never finished bush hogging i was on less than a 1/2 acre of ground with just grass i mowed it last year with my lawn mower

Its so annoying to have a tractor that is not making your job easier.
Thanks

you can put pto in and out of gear with the pto controll lever with out shutting tractor off and no need to disconnect pto shaft

Does it have a 2 stage clutch? Push it 1/2 way to stop tractor, rest of way down stops tractor and pto.

A perfect cure for this problem is to install a raised PTO unit which allows pto shaft to be dis-engaged while still allowing hydraulics to operate. Also ,, another gadget I use which works well especially for any rotating pto machinery is the install of a one way (overrunning clutch ) on the pto shaft. This allows gear shifting from forward to reverse without any interference from the rotation of trailing equipment.. You won,t recognize your tractor if you make these 2 up-grades.
