I am reassembling a fordson for a client and the vacuum governor line to the governor diaphragm were disconnected when I got the tractor. I know one goes to the intake manifold but I am not sure where the other one goes. Can some one please help with the location of the second line?
thanks
Dale

It would help to know which Fordson you are working on. On an E1ADDN Major range up to 1962 there were two pipes from the governor to the intake manifold. On a Dexta to 1962 there was one.

After 1962 they both had mechanical governed injection pumps.

Majorman, thanks for the help. I have the engine with the pneumatic governor. One tube connects from the bottom of the intake and goes to the top of the back governor case. The line I am not sure of connects to the side of the intake. I am wondering where the other end of that line goes. It has a ferrel fitting on it. It was disconnected when we got the tractor in the shop. The parts list is not helping me.
Thank you
Dale

Here are the pipe fittings for an E1ADDN Major. They have been like this from 1951 to 1962 although the pipes originally ran under the thermostat at the front of the head and were clamped to the water pump mounting bolt. From 1954 they run between the valve cover and down to the governor.

It would be good to know which Fordson you have otherwise all I am doing is guessing. You could have had a replacement engine with a different type of governor.

On engines from 1951 to 1954 there was a short breather pipe from the manifold to the valve cover through a hole in the valve cover. This was deleted after 1954 and a breather added from the valve cover to the air cleaner.

Majorman. we found the line in question went to the fuel shutoff valve for the cold start feature. But I have another question. I have the brake drum off and the brakes are soaked with oil so new oil seals and shoes. Looking at the axel I have the early style which has the collars to hold the bearing on. I would rather not take those out. Looking in the parts book seal # 17 is the inner seal. Is this the only one I need to replace? How does the bearing get oiled with the inner seal in place.
Thanks
Dale
