Vacuum governor

'61 FSM serial #1602957. Difficulty starting w/o touch of starting fluid. Hunting at high rev.
Lots of white smoke. Suspected diaphragm in vacuum governor. Disassembled and found diaphragm
in good order, however; found dampening valve out of place in body of governor housing and upon
inspection observed it to be worn and unable to seat securely in corresponding bushing as this too
seems to be worn beyond repair. Could this be the source of my difficulty? If so, any advice as
to a repair or a resource for a replacement part? Any insights are welcome. Love this old girl
and would hate to see it brought down by such a tiny part! Thanking all in advance and stay safe
in these crazy times!

Try Darwen Diesels for parts. They are in the UK so shipping isn't
cheap but their prices are reasonable. Also, they don't charge foreign customers sales, or value added taxses.

Thank you, Tom. I'll check it out. Any thoughts on the symptoms I related as to the worn out
dampening valve? All feedback greatly appreciated!

Thanks to Phonostud! Darwen Diesels had the damping valve, were a pleasure to do business with and now my FSM is humming like a well fed
kitten! This is an excellent forum and an additional shout out to Majorman who has advised me in the past.
Stay well all and heres to looking forward to calmer times!
