I left my manual at home ( 8 hrs away) and am replacing the head gasket on my FSM. can anyone share with me what the head torque should be? I also need the sequence.

Also, I ordered a head gasket from here which is a composite gasket. The one which I removed was all copper. Should I spray the new one with copper spray or leave as is? Thank your very much for the help!

Forgot to mention mine is a 4 cyl diesel in case they made a gas version.

Thank you once again for the help

85-90 lbs. Start in the middle and work outward on each end alternating front to rear. We used to go in three steps. 45, then 70, final at
85. We never used sealant. Your choice.

0.012" Exhaust with rotator caps. 0.015" Inlet no caps. If no caps on
exhaust valves and they have a straight stem like the inlet valves,
0.015".

I always use the Rule of 9 to set the valves, No 8 valve down = set No 1
(total 9) No 7 down = set No 2 and so on until all set. Once you have done
it a couple of times you look for the Down valve and set its opposite
number.

Head gasket on New Performance Supers lke yours should be the composite
gasket not the copper one, they were composite from new. The composite one
is now the one to fit all Majors, I even have one on my 1952
Petrol/Kerosene E1ADKN.
