I'm thinking of upgrading a recently purchased '62 Dexta diesel to a more modern starter and alternator. The generator and original stater work fine but I'm assuming the upgrade will provide a more reliable and less complicated set up.
Can anyone give me advice on this upgrade... pros and cons?
In addition, I don't think the fuel primer is working or the glow plug /heater. I read somewhere that the use of ether to start these engines is not advisable... any insight on this system will be greatly appreciated.
