I just bought this major with a loader and backhoe. Everything works however ugly. After reading these posts I'm nervous about moving forward on fixing her up. Only bought it to clear some land and dig some ditches. Any thoughts or advice. Secondly I looked everywhere and can't find the actual serial number. Any suggestions. Thanks mike

If everything works; why are you nervous? They are a good, tough old tractor. Most people I know that own them love them.

Serial number should be on a small tag fixed to the firewall behind the engine.
Also look for it stamped into the original engine just under the head gasket on forward RH side
and on the Bell-housing on the flange that mates to the engine.

Need help identifying this machine. The serial number plates are unreadable. I have found a few
stamped numbers here and there but nothing that matches, that I can find on the sites. One of the is
EIADKM 7007, EIADDH6B5B G, 13167, M5F, EIDDN-6015L. THANKS in advance Mike

Thank you, thats about all I got from pictures so far. Do you know if there are any other tractors that the parts are interchangeable?

Some limited parts are interchangeable between the 3 Majors series, but no other tractors that I'm aware of.

There should be an aluminum tag on the bulkhead between the engine and battery box, with serial numbers. I also seem to remember there being a raised boss on the top edged of the block, with a machined surface, and numbers stamped on it. Memory gets a little foggy, cause I quit working on them in 1972, on a regular basis.

I recommend getting an air cleaner cap on that asap. If the air cleaner gets full of water, they will suck it up, and hydro loc, or if they
happen to fire, bend or break things.

Hi Skipper, you have got sharp eyes, I was only 17 years old when Ford introduced the Super Major in 1960 and the slimline bonnet handles was one of the features of the new tractor. MJ
