Major and loader

My son (15 years old, has a 3-cylinder 4000) has his eye on a 1960-ish (seller isn't sure) Major with a loader. Doesn't run, but it's cheap enough and close enough we may buy it. I've been driving and maintaining Fords for 40 years now, but dont have any experience with Fordsons. What should we be looking for when we check it out?

Since it has a loader, check the front end parts. The Lucas charging system isn't the best in the world, but if it's working it's OK. Other than that, they don't have any real weak points. They are a pretty tough old tractor, with a lot of power for their size.

We were going to go look at it today, but he sold it yesterday. He'll have to keep looking. :)
Thanks for the input.
