More Power Out Of A Dexta

I?m wondering if there is anyway to get more power out of a Dexta with the Simms injection pump? I have the max fuel screw all the way out, and it didn?t seem to make much of a difference. Still not much smoke if any smoke with acceleration, and not much change in pulling etc.

The only way to get more power out of a Dexta is by changing it from 144 cubic inch displacement to 152 cubic inches. This requires either the thinner sleeve or counter boring the block top for Massey Ferguson/ Perkins flanged slip fit sleeves. The thin sleeves have a problem dropping so I would not go there. While the flanged sleeves are equally as thin, the flange keeps them in place. This increases displacement and raises the compression ratio from 16.5:1 to 17.4:1.

I don't know the performance difference in the pneumatically operated Simms pumps and the two Simms Minimec pumps that followed it. The Minimec pumps are mechanically governed. The Super Dexta was 152 cubic inches. I do think the second Minimec pump ( p4696 )raised the horsepower to 45 at 2250 rpm.

Dexta hp rating: 32 hp
Super Dexta hp rating. :39 horsepower.
(New) Super Dexta :45 horsepower
