The fuel pressure damper on my Dexta - Simms injection pump has called it quits. It's spewing fuel. Any leads on a replacement part? Thanks.

Do you mean the bit with the two copper pipes at the bottom of the picture? That is the
fuel lift pump and draws fuel from the tank, through the filter and keeps a low pressure on
the injection pump.

These are available from the after-market people like Agriline, Bepco and others. Think
they may even be available from this site.

It is this unit. It is on the backside of the injector behind the two forward injector lines. It has a diaphragm inside and dampens the pulses from the pump from what I have been able to find out. This one is spewing fuel. Thanks.

Got it! I have been involved with these tractors since the 1960's and spent time in our diesel shop and never seen one of these give trouble or be replaced. It seems there were two types and if replacing an earlier type with a later one you have to use an adaptor as they have different thread sizes.

Try posting your question on the Ford Board or even Tractor Talk, there are a couple at least of injection pump gurus who may have come across this problem before. Sorry I can be of no help.

Ford part numbers for the latest part: E417-CL-9, Adapter E416-CL-9, Washer 116115ES.
These numbers are from the 1966 Ford parts book so I doubtif they are current but may b of some help.

Thanks guys. I was able to track down a part number with the help of Bobby Newcomb at T & J Tractor in Chase City, VA. He made a few calls, but the part is obsolete. He talked with the guy that rebuilt pumps for him and he said to plug it. Done. I fired back up yesterday and that pesky drip that had been there for years appears to be gone. Wish the catastrophic failure had come sooner. Thanks Majorman and Dieseltech for the help. Maybe "Old Dexta" is ready to run for another 60 years.
