No auxillary control valve

My 1960 Dexta doesn't have an auxiliary control valve (that I can find). That portion of the hydraulic controls has a different plate on top that has 2 hydraulic cylinder hoses coming from the top and a 3 position lever that operates a valve in the rear. The 3-point lift arms will not raise. I can lift them by hand (hardly any resistance). What can I do now to try to diagnose this problem? Thanks.

Does your control valve look like this? If not it is possible that someone has fitted one
from a later tractor. The later ones have a slightly different porting and sometimes block
off the ports to the ram cylinder. The one pictured is the only one for a Super major and
a Dexta.

Mine looks different, the plunger is in the back with a 90 degree lever that runs from the back, around the right side, and can be moved right-center-left. The 3-point is more important to me than the dual cylinder. Do I need to find the original to regain that operation?

That sounds like one of the later ones for a Ford tractor. I would suspect that it will
be impossible to get one as in the picture. You may be able to get an auxiliary service
plate for a Dexta or a Super Major from a breakers yard. That would allow the lift to
work and still give you a single acting outlet to tip a trailer.

This one has a flow control that attaches to the main control lever but there are ones
that have just a plain plate.

There used to be an adaptor plate available which fitted between the top cover and the
later type valve which corrected the porting problem and allowed you to use both double
acting services and the lift arms but again I do not know if this is still available.
