Im trying to find an original gas cap for my old Fordson Major. Its aluminium with external machine threads. I have tried online but have had no luck. Does anyone have a secret stash of parts, or know where one might find one? Thanks. Jim.

Hi Jim What part of the world are you in, I'm in Canada and might have something laying around in my hoards of Fordson parts, I could post to the U.S
or somewhere if I find one here.
The other thing is try ebay, there are usually some kicking around in the U.K You need to be searching Fordson E27N type major, as a major search
covers a lot of years and the newer series like the new major, power and supers use the more modern type twist lock type cap. Email link for private messages should be open in my post if you want to send a message through the site instead of the forum posts
Regards Robert

Hi Robert. Thanks for getting back so quick. Yes it is an E27N and it isnt a modern twist lock type of cap. Its one with machine threads just over 2 inches across and a kind of fluted top.
I am in Canada, in Ontario, near Kingston. Ive looked on eBay, maybe didnt do the right search. I found a site, The Fordson House, but all their stuff is for older Fordson. I would gladly get one from you if you have it.
Thanks. Jim.

Hi Jim

I'll have a look round my coffee can hoard here in Manitoba in the next day or so. I scrapped a couple of the gas tractors as the motors were beyond
saving, the tanks were rough to with the bottoms rotted out as well. Having inherited the pack rat gene from my family I kinda keep all those kind of
things when they were there for the just in case days like yours. I have 1 gas tractor and 3 of the diesel P6's as well I'm keeping for my collection
here.
Regards Robert

Hi. Thanks for looking. I accidentally bought this tractor about three weeks ago. Was looking on kijiji for a compact tractor for my friend and saw this old Fordson. It was just like the one I grew up with that was my grandfathers. It was only about 25 miles away. Went to look at it and told my wife that I would buy it if it was a good deal and ran, etc. I made a deal with the guy for $800 because everything ran and worked, but most importantly it had some features that I thought were particular to my grandfathers old tractor. My father sold it about 25 years ago, and I always wished I had bought it from him. So I brought it home and told my wife I was 90% sure it was THE old Fordson. She was looking in the owners manual and parts book that I got with it and found pages that had been bookmarked with return address stickers. My fathers return address stickers!! So now our old Fordson is back in the barn where it belongs and lived for the first 45 years of its life or so. Kind of a good feeling.
Hope this post wasnt too long, but I thought it would interest old tractor guys.......Jim......

Hi Jim Thats a cool story, My dad grew up farming with standards and majors in England, and I
remember the last one leaving the farm in about 1978/9. Some of us are born with blue blood, thats
why I have them. unfortunately for some others i guess its green and yellow blood L.O.L
Anyhow I found 3 caps, I'm not sure if you are posting on Classic view or modern for the forums.
If you go to classic you should see a send email link in the bottom right of my posts click that and
send me your address. I'll send you the best looking one of the 3. Well talk more on the private
messages.
Regards Robert

It wouldn't surprise me if the old Fordson cap works. Do you know if they don't?
I think the reproduction tanks are for all models 1918 to 1952. You can take your
old end pieces and bond them to the new tank for looks.
