Fordson F Weird Engine Stampings et al

Just bought a new Fordson F, I think it is a 1925, but something is strange. Serial No. on right side of engine just under the head is 478766, indicating a US made tractor in 1925. BUT, stamped in on left side of engine block is "MADE IN ENGLAND" under that is "N 6015 KR", under that is "J", under that is "Fordson", and under that is "X". This stamping is on the engine block, the same block with the serial number on the right side. I don't understand how a 1925 built tractor has an engine made in England. Also, the two bung fuel tank says it was made in the Irish Free State. ( I had assumed that this was a replacement tank simply because none were made in 1925 in Ireland). There is no separate gas tank, but the air washer still has the two bolt holes where a gas tank could be attached. The patent casting on the dash goes through 1922. It has a Holley 295 carb (by the way, when were these introduced ?). The tractor is painted a dirty white, not gray. The dash sides are not drilled for fender hardware attachment, and finally, although it has the standard internal magneto, it also has a WICO Series A High Tension Magneto. Can anyone help me understand why the engine was made in England with a 1925 period serial number, what year was the Holley 295 carb used, etc. Thank you so much guys, I really do appreciate your time and effort. I am only able to access the web in the evening, so give me a day to respond to any clarifications or questions you may have for me.

Many things could have happened. Most likely it has a replacement engine and the shop stamped
the old number on it. All Fordson F and N engines were interchangeable up until 1952 and the
factory supplied rebuilt engines for a few more years. The tractor was not a long-lived machine,
and farmers routinely replaced engines every 2 to 3 years if they pushed them very hard.

Not sure about the WICO magneto. It could be an after market accessory, or a farmer substitution.
I think the original would have been a Bosch. It is conceivable that they'd leave the flywheel
magneto intact, because the magnets pick up oil and fling it into a funnel which oils the front
main bearing and timing gears. On the N's and E27N's there was no flywheel magneto, so I don't
know if anything was used to fling the oil up to top of the flywheel housing.

cdmn, Thanks very much for the info. I guess it makes sense that the dealer or shop who replaced the engine would have stamped in a duplicate of the original engine number. It's important to date the engine as I have removed cyl head and oil pan and plan to replace the piston rings and grind the valve seats, so I want to order the correct parts. Knowing this is an English built engine does make a difference for some parts. Does anyone know when the Holley 295 carbs were used? I think I will have the WICO magneto rebuilt and use that as it was a period replacement. One last question, does anyone have the Fordson Gray US color codes for new paint. I plan on stripping the existing wrong color paint, and hope to use the PPG Omni etch primer, then sealer primer, then the acrylic enamel paint. If not for PPG, then Martin Seynour paint. Both are available from NAPA. PS. US paint codes are different than those used in the UK. I do not want to use the cheaper "implement" paint. Thanks again. PPS. Can anyone suggest an experienced professional to test, service, and possibly re-build my High Tension Magneto?

I don't know the color code, sorry ,I buy my paint from Fordson house ,it is very good , I use a brush and it fills in ,good shine because the brush marks disappear . I only spray tank rad side panels and fenders , the rest is brushed
Good luck
