I recently got a ford tractor it has ford 2000 diesel stickers on the hood. I was told it is a dexta but i ain't sure. I think I have the serial number 957F77165.

If your serial number stamped on the flange between engine and clutch housing
on the injection pump side, starts 957E, the tractor is a Dexta pre 1961. A
Super Dexta of the same era would start 09B.

I understand that badging a Dexta as a Ford 2000 did not start until 1963 and
then it was only the Super Dexta. By that time the serial number would start
09B or(C, D) depending on the year.

The Super Dexta did not appear until 1962 and has a Minimec pump, the Dexta
carried on using the vacuum governed pump until late 1962.

The first part of the serial number 957F is probably 957E so 957E77165 indicates it was made in 1961. It is a Dexta.

According to Tractor Data, Ford sold the both Dexta and Super Dexta in the U.S. as the diesel 2000. Some of the pictures saying English 2000 Dexta show the English 2000 that has the Ford engine with the horizontal oil filter sticking out the center of the left side of the block. The injection pump is on the right side of the block. These were not Dextas in the specific sense or someone labeled the pics wrong. True Dextas have a vertical oil filter on the lower left side of the block and have the Ford/Perkins engine. Ferkins or Pord. lol

It is possible that Dextas were sold in the U.S. as the diesel 2000 in 1961 if Tractor Data is right, But?

The best thing to do is pictures of the front and both sides.

This one is badged a Dexta, it has a Simms pump.
